I am very happy to announce the release on Nesma Music label of the first album of a series dedicated to Egyptian Folk Dances: “Old Cairo” – El-Qahira The Adima in Arabic – . This album compiles music that I have recorded to use in live shows and some very prominent themes of Egyptian Folklore are published here for the first time ever including famous themes created by the legendary choreographer Mahmoud Reda for the Reda Troupe.
More than 50 of the greatest Egyptian musicians have participated in these recording produced in Ammer Sound studio in Cairo in 2006 and 2007. I have to highlight the exceptional work done by the sound engineer Ehab Nabil and by the great composer and director, the oud player Moddathir Aboul Wafa in the musical direction of these recordings. The album includes also two original themes of his composition.
I am really proud to have realized this work of recovering wonderful musical themes that had never been recorded in the studio.
This first volume of a series of 3 is going to be released in digital format in our online store next Friday, February 15. A limited edition of a collector’s CD will be released at Nesma Music later this year.
I hope you enjoy as much as I do listening and dancing these wonderful music.
