The Gálvez/Vera/Schmitt Project is a new, virtuoso trio that combines a huge geographic range and an even greater musical one.
Christian Gálvez is a renowned virtuosic bassist from Chili; Jorge Vera, is a brilliant young pianist and keyboard player, who is at home in jazz, latin and funk styles;
Damien Schmitt is an outstanding French drummer making his mark in jazz, rock, funk and fusion.
Together they form one of the most exciting new contemporary jazz trios on the scene today, combining originality and virtuosity to make breath-taking music.
This young trio bring together different traditions to form one, irresistible and inspiring new sound. They have the subtlety of jazz, the power of rock, the panache of latin jazz and the innovation of fusion, creating music that is as exciting as it is beautiful.
They mix standards with well crafted, original compositions that have the stamp of classics. An almost telepathic communication works between the three of them on stage, enabling them to intertwine their sounds, switch mood and tempo in an instant, and support each others’ solos with intelligence and sensitivity.
The musicians they have collaborated with is testament to their craft: Billy Cobham, Stanley Clarke, Mike Stern, Stanley Jordan Jorge Pardo, Bireli Lagrène and Jean-Luc Ponty, to name a few. This is the tradition they are coming from, but they are forging the future for themselves, as their stunning live performances show.
